Abstract

As the 21st century unfolds, the global economy has experienced rapid growth while resources become increasingly depleted, exacerbating environmental challenges. In this context, nations worldwide have prioritized addressing global environmental issues, with China consistently advancing sustainable ecological development. With the sustainable development concept gaining widespread acceptance, corporate environmental accountability and environmental accounting disclosures have emerged as focal points for stakeholders, investors, and regulators. The papermaking industry, while holding a pivotal position in China's national economy, remains a major source of industrial pollution. This study conducts a comparative analysis of Jingxing Paper and Hengfeng Paper through case studies, examining their annual reports, environmental impact assessments, and social responsibility disclosures to extract actionable insights. By identifying similarities and differences in environmental accounting practices, the research identifies current challenges and proposes targeted recommendations for improvement, focusing on content refinement, disclosure methodologies, and safeguard mechanisms.
