Abstract

"This article attempts to analyze the impact of the production capacity of renewable sources (MW) on greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector. The analysis was conducted on the Italian regions for the period 2000-2019. The approach used shows that renewable energies, by type of source, have contributed to changing the trajectory of GHG emissions in the energy sector. Furthermore, through the graphic analysis we can see a net in- crease in the renewable energy supply, driven by national and European policies. However, we believe that heavy investments should be avoided to ensure a smooth transition process. "
