Sobre a Frente Atlântica do Porto

Abstract

A Frente Atlântica do Porto é uma associação intermunicipal de fins múltiplos constituída pelos municípios de Matosinhos, Porto e Vila Nova de Gaia. Porque surgiu? Como se enquadra no contexto da governança territorial do Estado português no continente do país? Que impacto tem vindo a ter no desenvolvimento como Liberdade dos 3 municípios? O método de investigação utilizado foi o estudo de caso. O mesmo contemplou a recolha de informação documental, a realização de entrevistas a agentes políticos chave e uma avaliação preliminar da Frente Atlântica do Porto segundo dimensões correspondentes às liberdades instrumentais da teoria do desenvolvimento como liberdade de Amartya Sen. Os resultados mostram que a Frente Atlântica do Porto: i) surgiu pela necessidade de coordenar ações entre os três municípios; ii) tem dado uma voz à sub-região e à região a que pertence; e iii) indicia ter impactos positivos no desenvolvimento como liberdade dos 3 municípios.
