O Aeroporto da Região Centro: Um Cenário Possível?

Abstract

As infraestruturas aeroportuárias constituem uma problemática muito atual no desenvolvimento regional. Os aeroportos têm reconhecidos impactos económicos nos territórios onde se localizam, sendo importantes na afirmação turística. Neste contexto, considera-se pertinente analisar uma velha aspiração regional, que é o aeroporto para a Região Centro. A justificação deste projeto aeroportuário radica no dinamismo urbano, industrial e turístico do território. Numa época de crise, a construção de novas infraestruturas não é um tema consensual. Além disso, existe um certo equilíbrio na distribuição do tráfego pelos aeroportos nacionais. Contudo, face ao abandono de projetos estruturantes nas acessibilidades, como o novo aeroporto de Lisboa e a alta velocidade ferroviária, a Região Centro ficou sem a devida integração na rede urbana de hierarquia superior.
