O Mapa Municipal Português: Discrepâncias de um Sistema Secular

Abstract

Este artigo pretende debruçar-se sobre a reorganização do mapa municipal português, uma matéria complexa que deveria preceder o processo de regionalização, a qual se espera virá preencher parte do discurso político nacional durante o ano de 2012. A reformulação do mapa autárquico materializa-se através da criação, mas sobretudo da fusão e da extinção de municípios e freguesias. Em termos teóricos, considera-se oportuno, antes da criação das regiões administrativas, implementar um conjunto de reformas mui- to pouco pacíficas, mas decisivas para a racionalização e a modernização do Estado ao níveis local e regional.
