Microproduções Agrícolas e Desenvolvimento Sustentável em Regiões Periféricas

Abstract

A realidade socio-económica em geral e a actividade agrária desenvolvida nos territórios de incidência do Parque Natural do Douro Internacional (PNDI), Portugal e Parque Natural das Arribes del Duero (PNAD), Espanha, servem de referência à reflexão em torno do potencial contributo da pequena agricultura tradicional e familiar para o desenvolvimento sustentável de territórios rurais periféricos. Iniciamos com a apresentação de um conjunto de elementos, de carácter geral, que explicam o interesse actual pelas produções tradicionais, enquanto instrumento de desenvolvimento dos seus territórios de origem. Com base na investigação realizada são identificadas as principais limitações ao desenvolvimento das pequenas produções agrícolas locais. Concluímos apresentando um conjunto de elementos que julgamos fundamentais para que tais produtos se possam constituir em instrumento de desenvolvimento territorial sustentável, entendido nos seus múltiplos desafios: económico, social e ambiental.
