Motivações e Percepções dos Consumidores: O Caso do Algarve

Abstract

Os novos contextos sociais e quotidianos contribuíram para o desenvolvimento de um novo conceito de consumo, onde a eficiência e um padrão comportamental heterogéneo condicionam a dinamização do comércio retalhista. Este artigo enquadrado num projecto mais vasto de avaliação da actividade comercial na região, pretende caracterizar hábitos de consumo. A partir de 1041 inquéritos realizados a uma amostra significativa dos consumidores conclui-se que apesar de coexistirem dois segmentos de mercado - aqueles que preferem o comércio independente de proximidade e aqueles que preferem a grande distribuição - nenhum dos dois grupos assume a não utilização de outros formatos comerciais. Os resultados permitiram identificar um conjunto de vectores que devem nortear a estratégia de desenvolvimento do sector comercial no Algarve.
