Distritos Industriais Marshallianos: o Caso de Águeda

Abstract

O objectivo deste artigo é averiguar se Águeda constitui um distrito industrial marshalliano, procurando determinar a influência desta forma de organização produtiva no dinamismo industrial do concelho. Depois de uma breve revisão da literatura sobre os distritos industriais, visando a identificação das principais características deste modelo de organização industrial, é feita uma análise empírica, tendo como base um inquérito realizado a empresas de Águeda. Os resultados do estudo revelam um concelho indiscutivelmente industrial, caracterizado pela co-presença de empresas de pequena dimensão, fortemente especializadas, tendo-se formado um sistema de interdependências industriais. De referir ainda a existência de uma forte interacção entre as empresas e o meio local, desempenhando os agentes colectivos locais um papel preponderante no desenvolvimento industrial do concelho.
