Efeitos Assimétricos da Abertura Comercial Sobre o Nível de Renda dos Estados Brasileiros

Abstract

Teria a abertura comercial da economia brasileira, iniciada na década de 1990, aumentado o nível de renda per capita dos estados? Os efeitos são assimétricos ao considerar os aspectos regionais? Para responder tais questões, utiliza-se um painel com informações para os estados brasileiros de 1991 a 2004 e de modelos dinâmicos, estimados por System-GMM. Os resultados evidenciam que capital humano e físico aumentam a renda per capita dos estados brasileiros, enquanto que a abertura comercial apresentou um impacto negativo. Entretanto, considerando as peculiaridades regionais, conclui-se que maior abertura comercial das regiões Centro-Oeste, Sudeste e Sul, afeta positivamente o nível de renda per capita dos estados brasileiros, quando comparadas a do Nordeste.
