EAEU Trade and Economic Cooperation with Potential Partner Countries of the Greater Eurasian Partnership

Abstract

The article examines the dynamics of trade turnover of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) with potential partner countries in the Greater Eurasian Partnership (GEP). Based on data analysis over the period 2015-2022, changes in the structure of commodity exports and imports of the EAEU and potential GEP partner countries are clarified. The dynamic indicators of trade turnover are explained by the increased exports from the EAEU to some potential GEP partner countries. The most priority activities for the development of the GEP project are identified, such as expansion of free trade zones and implementation of joint infrastructure projects. Special attention is paid to the existing obstacles that may hinder the deepening of trade and economic cooperation, and ways to overcome them are proposed. It is concluded that, given the diversity of interaction forms between the GEP countries, it would be reasonable to deepen the trade and economic cooperation by eliminating various barriers related to the movement of goods, services, capital and labour.
