New Trends in Building Global Value Chains

Abstract

Currently, the topic of globalization in economic relations and its impact on world trade has become a topic of debate: opinions about the end of globalization and the onset of “fragmentation” are increasingly heard. The article attempts to show that with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the demand for intensive international cooperation and collaboration in the field of production and transfer of technologies and specialists is growing and manifests itself through the expansion of global value chains (GVC), which are only being reshaped but do not lose their significance. At the same time, wars, including trade wars and sanctions, diversify and lengthen GVCs, involving a growing number of participants, both countries and corporations. These new processes are changing the geography and structure of global trade.
