Strategic Partnership between Russia and Hungary amid Europe’s Changing Energy Landscape

Abstract

The article examines the key aspects of the strategic partnership between Russia and Hungary in the energy sector amid the transformation of the European energy landscape. It analyzes the volumes of oil, gas, and nuclear technology supplies, as well as Hungary’s role in ensuring the region’s energy security. Special attention is paid to geopolitical and economic factors, including the impact of sanctions, diversification of energy supply sources, and the development of renewable energy sources. The article explores Hungary’s plans to strengthen its energy infrastructure and adapt national policies to align with pan-European goals. It also considers the prospects of maintaining Hungary’s importance as a critical link in the European energy system. Finally, with the changing global energy environment, recommendations are provided to minimize risks and enhance cooperation emphasizing the importance of Russian-Hungarian relations for both sides.
