Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the challenges and prospects for Sino–Russian energy cooperation in the Arctic region, as well as to analyze the background, current situation, challenges faced by the two countries, and ways to deepen cooperation in the future. With the changes in the structure of global energy consumption and the increasing role of the Arctic region in the energy production, Sino-Russian energy cooperation in the Arctic is an important milestone in relations between the two countries. China and Russia have already successfully implemented a number of energy projects, including the Yamal LNG project for the production and processing of natural gas. This project has become a symbol of Sino-Russian cooperation in the Arctic and a key element of the Silk Road. This demonstrates the common strategic focus of both countries on deepening energy cooperation and efficient use of Arctic energy resources. Sino-Russian energy cooperation in the Arctic holds great promise, but it also requires addressing a number of challenges. Both countries should continue to seek new ways of cooperation to maximize the benefits of Arctic energy resources while complying with environmental standards and international law.
