Abstract

The article considers the concept of development corridors, gives the definition and several associated terms (transport corridor, economic corridor, growth corridor), and describes the structure of a development corridor in general terms. Corridors are classified according to various criteria: geography, purposes, etc. A description of the goals and objectives to be performed is given separately, as they can vary from country to country and from region to region depending on the exact economic needs. The main sources of funding for development corridor projects andparticipation of international organizations in such kind of projects are analyzed. International experience of development corridors, including the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor (DMIC), the China Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC), and the group of corridors in the Greater Mekong Subregion countries, is assessed.
