Baltic Sea Container Terminals

Abstract

The article overviews the most advanced terminals of the Baltic region that handle container cargo flows. The article presents a comparative analysis of the container cargo turnover by countries, and lists the key ports for servicing container cargo flows for each Baltic Sea country. The data on container lines services in the container ports of the region are provided, with the emphasis on their role in international trade of the countries whose goods are handled at these container terminals. The analysis of the hinterland, the performance, and prospects for their development and expansion of the largest container terminals is presented. The current state of the Russian container terminals competitiveness in the Baltic region and the cargo flows using national container ports are considered.
