Abstract

This article is devoted to assessing the prospects and trends in the global natural gas market in the period from 2020 to 2040. The authors consider the countries and regions separately, and assess the industry considering the global pandemic caused by the spread of the new coronavirus infection (Covid-19). It is emphasized that developing countries will increase LNG imports, as LNG prices remain low, which organically supports the initiative to switch from coal to gas. The share of natural gas in electricity production will reach a quarter of global demand, surpassing oil. The largest driver of growth - the leading consumer - is industrial production because of the development of urban gas distribution networks and the active environmental policies of the countries.
