Abstract

The authors emphasize the relatively low level of digital technologies development in African countries, especially in comparison with industrialized countries. They note that the density of installed computers on the world’s second largest continent is low and identify the main factors hindering the solution to this problem. The main impediments include low level of knowledge and skills in the use of electronic equipment for data processing, lack of the compelling government programs promoting the use of computer equipment, low density of telecommunication channels and skilled labour shortage.
