International technology transfer: main trends and Russia’s position

Abstract

The article analyzes the major trends, structural shifts and quantitative parameters of international technology trade over the last decade. Evaluations of international technology exchange, including related to them operations with intellectual property objects, were made using the OECD technology balance of payments methodology. The specifics and scope of this category of economic transactions are revealed. Besides, the article examines the dynamics of Russia’s external trade in technology, its export structure by technology type and country, evaluates Russia’s positions in international technology trade and brings to the conclusion that there is a significant country’s potential in this area.
