Abstract

In the analysis of financialisation in peripheral countries it is necessary to take into account the international dimension of the phenomenon, however this is under-analyzed in the literature and absent in specific studies in Argentina. The present work aims to contribute to fill this gap in the literature, providing empirical evidence of the behavior of international capital flows to and from the country from 1980 to the present. It is concluded that Argentina has undergone a financialisation process since 1990 and this is shaped by its subordinate insertion in the international financial system.
