İmalat Sanayinde İhracata Dayalı Büyüme Hipotezinin Geçerliliğinin Test Edilmesi: Türkiye Örneği

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de imalat sanayi için ihracata dayalı büyüme hipotezinin geçerliliği analiz edilmektedir. İhracata dayalı büyüme hipotezi, ihracat hacmindeki genişlemenin, çeşitli kanallardan ekonomik büyümeye pozitif katkıda bulunacağını öne sürmektedir. Bu doğrultuda büyüme literatüründe ihracata dayalı büyüme hipotezi üzerine yapılan çalışmalar incelendiğinde genellikle toplam ihracat bazında bulgular sunmaktadır. Sektörel boyutta olan çalışmalar ise göreceli olarak daha az sayıdadır. Bu noktadan hareketle çalışmanın temel amacı, Türkiye’de 1996-2018 döneminde imalat sanayi ihracatı ile sanayi üretim endeksi arasındaki nedenselliğin analiz edilmesidir. Bu doğrultuda Johansen eş bütünleşme testi, Granger nedensellik testi ve Toda-Yamamoto nedensellik testi kullanılarak Türkiye’de imalat sanayi ihracatı ile sanayi üretimi endeksi arasındaki bağlantı araştırılmıştır. Analiz sonucu, standart Granger tekniğinde nedenselliğin yönünün sanayi üretiminden ihracata doğru olduğunu gösterirken, Toda-Yamamoto tekniği ise iki değişken arasında nedensellik bağının olmadığını göstermektedir. Elde edilen bulgular, ihracata dayalı büyüme hipotezinin imalat sanayinde hem kısa hem de uzun dönemde geçerli olmadığını göstermektedir. Ayrıca, çalışmadan elde edilen ampirik sonuçlar ışığında politika çıkarımları da tartışılmıştır.
