Abstract

Produsen dan eksportir minyak sawit dunia telah menanggapi isu lingkungan dan dampak sosial yang ditimbulkan dari minyak kelapa sawit dengan mendukung sistem sertifikasi sukarela. Selain itu, ada pula skema sertifikasi wajib yang didukung oleh Pemerintah yang bertujuan untuk memberikan jaminan legalitas dan sisi keberlanjutan pertanian kelapa sawit serta produk turunannya. Oleh karena itu, Indonesia bertekad untuk mengadopsi dan mengejar skema sertifikasi yang dibuat oleh Pemerintah bernama Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO). ISPO mempunyai tiga tujuan utama untuk minyak sawit Indonesia yang sejalan dengan tujuan Presiden Joko Widodo seperti (i) meningkatkan standar dan praktik manajemen minyak sawit nasional, termasuk untuk petani kecil yang terlibat; (ii) meningkatkan daya saing dan peningkatan penerimaan dari minyak sawit Indonesia di pasar global; dan (iii) mengurangi emisi gas rumah kaca Indonesia.
