Las dinámicas empresariales del crecimiento económico de Madrid (1886-1935)

Abstract

Este artículo analiza la composición y evolución del tejido empresarial de Madrid entre 1886 y 1935, una etapa de crecimiento y modernización cuyo alcance y singularidad empresarial aún desconocemos. A partir del Re-gistro Mercantil de Madrid desvelamos el perfil de las empresas que protagonizaron este período, clave para la configuración del capitalismo español. Nuestras conclusiones muestran que la transformación de Madrid se apoyó en la temprana difusión de la sociedad anónima, la diversificación empresarial y el avance de la media-na empresa. Todas estas dinámicas se aceleraron tras la Primera Guerra Mundial, que impactó sobre el desa-rrollo empresarial madrileño de forma positiva, más intensa y duradera que en el resto de España.
