Abstract

This article examines the specifics of business processes in the digital economy, which has transformed the nature of competition. Competitiveness has become increasingly determined not by the availability of individual resources, but by an enterprise’s ability to organize its operations as a system of coordinated, harmonized, and continually evolving business processes. From this perspective, the author defines the concepts of «process approach», «business process», and «business process management».The article substantiates the thesis that business process management is shifting from a tactical automation tool to a strategic approach that determines an enterprise’s competitiveness. The main directions of development of business processes in the digital environment are presented.
