Abstract

The article currently aims to identify how a process of negotiation or mediation may be influenced by the cultural context in which they are made. For this, the article starts from the identification of a set of definitions attributed to the concept of culture, which is then analyzed in terms of the communication process. Cultural factors have an important impact on the process of the negotiation and mediation, most often being decisive in the success of these processes. As negotiator or mediator knows better cultural context of the parties, he can adapt even easier, finding solutions that can be widely accepted and contribute to maintaining long-term relationships between the parties, and not just for reaching agreement in that particular situation.
