Abstract

Rural child labour is one of the main scourges of modern society, it is classified by the ILO as one of the worst forms of child labor. In Mexico even though their practice is prohibited, every day, boys/girls and adolescents are added to the labor market, in particular agriculture. Given this reality, the present study aims to assess the rural child labor and its implications in the highlands poblano. We conclude that child labor is a phenomenon that is growing strongly, its configuration is associated with the structural violence of structural adjustment policies implemented in the last three decades where rural areas were reconfigured to adapt to the new economic conditions.
