Abstract

The current configuration of agrifood systems and the changes in the characteristics of food demands in recent years have resulted in a strong growth in different countries of strategies that represent a search for alternatives to common forms of production, distribution and consumption. Producer and consumer associations, networks of consumer buying groups, farmer's markets and box schemes, amongst others, come together under the heading "short food supply chain initiatives". In order to identify what is happening in Andalusia (Spain) in terms of alternative and innovation processes arising from the local population, an exploratory research was performed. As results, an inventory and a mapping of one hundred ongoing experiences are presented in this paper. The first approach aims to advance producers and consumers, the strengthening of local farming systems and agricultural markets and the building of new linkages between rural and urban areas.
