Abstract

In this paper an analysis of the internal market for fresh fish at the Basque Country is carried out. Particularly, mackerel prices, coming from the inshore sector, are analysed focusing on the study of vertical equilibrium relationships between the prices of fish sold at auction (at ports) and fish sold by the central market. For that purpose, different econometric techniques used in the analysis of the market integration are applied, examining the long term equilibrium relationships by means of both integer and fractional cointegration. The results show that it is a non integrated market, following the series of prices at port and central market an independent evolution.
