Abstract

The work presents a business environment scanning of the agrifood supply chain based on the perceived dynamism and applying the Rasch model (1960/1980), The members of the agrifood supply chain (agriculture, agroindustry and distribution) in the Canary Islands perceive competitors and consumer as the most dynamic variables. Related to the differences in perceptions among the members of the agrifood supply chain, natural and technological resources are the only items perceived more dynamic by the agroindustry than by the distribution. Considering the size of the firms the results show that demand and competitors are perceived more dynamic by the smallest firms. On the contrary, labour legislation, sectorial legislation and technological resources are perceived more stable by the smallest firms.
