Abstract

Nowadays, the quality of the water intended for the abstraction of drinking water is analysed and controlled by the integral network of the water quality (ICA network), managed by the Confederaciones Hidrográficas. Throughout the riverbeds, some control stations have been located with the aim of giving periodical data about different parameters which determine the possibility that water is drinkable and, consequently, the possible contamination of the water. This paper analyses the situation of two of these control stations operated by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar, located in the Júcar-Turia canal. These stations control the quality of the water intended for the abstraction of drinking water that is the one intended for final consumption of population and, therefore, requires monitoring the minimal standard quality levels established by the law for its final use. The objective of this paper is double: on the one hand, to confirm the equality -with regard to the quality- of the water circulating along both stations and, on the other hand, to establish whether during the studied period (1994 to 2001) the differences found in the evolution of the measured parameters are appreciable or, on the contrary, during those years the measured parameters can be considered statistically equal.
