Abstract

In this paper, we compute the value of production quotas for a sample of dairy farms in Asturias. For that purpose, we estimate a variable cost function with panel data of 71 dairy farms in the years 1993-1998. An important feature of the model estimated is that marginal costs depend on the economic efficiency of each farm. As a result, it is possible to explore the linkages between efficiency and quota value.
