Asignación de recursos de agua para uso agrario y crecimiento económico en la comarca meridional agraria de Alicante

Las inversiones públicas y privadas realizadas en sistema de regulación con la finalidad de aumentar la disponibilidad de agua para uso agrario se justifican con base a su impacto sobre el crecimiento económico de la comarca. La superficie de la comarca meridional transformada en regadío ha incorporado las técnicas agrícolas más avanzadas (invernaderos) y los sistemas de riego de mayor eficiencia en el uso del agua (localizado) consiguiendo una alta productividad económica por unidad de superficie y por volumen de agua aplicada. La nueva agricultura creada es intensiva, capitalizada, exportadora (hortofrutícola), generadora de empleo, de favorable renta de situación y consolidada en los mercados. Modelo productivo agrario que tiene su continuidad espacial en las tierras del litoral murciano y almeriense como en sus zonas más inmediatas de las Vegas Media y Alta (Murcia) y el Valle del Almanzora (Almería). Sin embargo, la precariedad de las dotaciones de agua para los cultivos como la falta de garantía en el suministro y los problemas medioambientales provocados pueden limitar el desarrollo futuro de esta actividad productiva, necesitada de superar las amenazas y debilidades para convertirlas en fortalezas y oportunidades...The public and private investments made in the regulation system with the aim of increasing the availability of water for agricultural use find their justification in the impact they have on the region’s economic growth. The surface of the southern region transformed into irrigated land has incorporated the most advanced agricultural techniques (greenhouses) and the irrigation systems with the highest efficiency in terms of water use (localised), thus making it possible to achieve a high economic productivity per surface unit and volume of water applied. The newly- created agriculture is intensive, capitalised, exporting (fruit-and-vegetable-growing) and employment- generating, has a favourable situation income, and is consolidated in the markets. This agricultural productive model has been extended both to lands in the coasts of Murcia and Almería and to the nearest areas of Vega Media and Vega Alta (Murcia) and the Almanzora Valley (Almería). However, the precariousness in the availability of water for farming, along with the lack of guarantee for provision and the environmental problems caused, can limit the future development of this productive activity that needs to overcome threats and weaknesses to turn them into strengths and opportunities.
