Abstract

In a regional perspective, this article values the extent and the consequences of the exporter boom of table wine during the second half of the XIX century. So, the price data are reconstructed and the changes in the navarrese wine markets are examined. From the supply’s prospect, the viticultural specialization mobilized more land and capital than workforce, and the main protagonist was a social group of middling landowners and vintagers. The boom brought some expressive changes: a growing dissociation between grape producer and wine manufacturer, a joint of bussiness interests under the Asociación Vinícola de Navarra, and the search of new markets through the presence in domestic and international exhibitions.
