Abstract

El paisaje ha recuperado su “dinámica natural” después de varias décadas de una intensa explotación humana, por lo que los bosques han iniciado un lento proceso de recolonización del territorio........Els Ports region, which is located at the north-west end of the Castellon province, has gone through two opposing beings for scarcely two hundred years in relation to the agroforestry landscape that is characteristic of the median Mediterranean mountains. Since the last third of XVIII century, its unwonted population growth forced people to accomplish large-scale land breaking in order to procure enough food for this community. Since then there has been a grave anthropoid intervention on its scenery, which has been shaped in an overriding future agricultural development. Not even a public profitable mountain such as Pereroles, which was subjected to a communal supplying system, can ward off this dynamic. Present changes are bound to the continual loss of population, the strong drift from the countryside, and the consequent absence from the cultivated lands. This landscape recovered its 'natural dynamic' after enduring the intense human exploitation for several decades. Thus, woods have started a gradual process for recolonizing the territory.
