SWOT and PESTEL analysis of the current status of land relations in Ukraine

The purpose of the article is to develop practical guidelines for the strategic analysis of the status of land relations through the usage of SWOT and PESTEL analysis. Research methods. In the article have been used a number of general and special economic research methods, in particular: system analysis for a study of theoretical and methodological principles of land reform; abstract and logical method for a clarification of the essence of the basic concepts, definitions and categories of land usage; method of analogies and comparisons for comparing a variety of processes, phenomena and trends on their impact on different groups of land users. Research results. In order to identify the most important factors that influence the development of land relations, the method of expert evaluation has been tested as a way to predict future results based on the experts’ findings. The strengths and weaknesses of land usage, problems and threats of land tenure have been outlined. There is a significant influence on the development of land relations, not only natural and climatic factors but also political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal influences. Elements of scientific novelty. The methodical approach of expert assessment of the formation of indicator ranking of land tenure, land usage and land dispose based on SWOT analysis (strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats of land relation development) and PESTEL analysis (political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal factors of an influence of environment) has been improved. This approach can be used in the development and implementation of the road map for the completion of the land reform. Practical significance. The methodology of conducting SWOT and PESTEL analysis has been improved with the purpose of forming organizational and legal and socio-economic priorities of development of land relations in agriculture.
