Abstract

The current research was carried out in a meat processing plant located in the state of Coahuila. This successful company guarantees the humane slaughter of animals with the goal to produce quality, sound carcasses. The federally inspected plant began operations in 2007 to satisfy customer demand for quality products. The use of strategic planning can give rise to a competitive and efficient company, able to confront new markets. Interviews were conducted with various key players, the conversations were recorded and were subsequently used to transcribe the interviews, which were of help in developing the strategic plan for the company. The results indicate that the company is important in the agricultural sector, where it has achieved many successes. The plant adequately complies with current regulations, guaranteeing that it executes the strictest quality, sanitary, and hygienic controls during the slaughter process. In addition, they have implemented the Good Manufacturing Practices and the Standard Operating Sanitation Procedures, which guarantee the consumer sound, quality products that have an increased shelf life.
