Zasoby pracy w Polsce ogółem i na wsi wobec przemian gospodarczych oraz trendów demograficznych

The aim of the paper was to analyse the level and changes in labour resources in Poland in total and in rural areas in the context of demographic and economic trends. Due to the existing demographic trends, in the next years the deficit of labour resources may appear and high costs of maintaining of pension system and public debt servicing may charge smaller and smaller group of employees. However, when adjusting the quality structure of labour demand and supply, Polish economy may benefit from the reserves of labour resources: unemployed and economically non-active population, especially from the surplus of employment in agriculture, which can be a valuable reservoir of labour force for non-agricultural sectors. This process will soften the negative effects of the reduction in the number of inhabitants of the country, but in a long run the economy may face a barrier to growth in terms of declining demand for products and services. / Synopsis. Celem artykułu było zbadanie wielkości oraz zmian zasobów pracy w Polsce ogółem i na wsi w kontekście przemian demograficznych i gospodarczych. Ze względu na występujące trendy demograficzne, w kolejnych latach może wystąpić niedobór siły roboczej i wysokie obciążenia coraz mniej licznej grupy pracujących, kosztami utrzymania systemu emerytalnego i obsługi zaciągniętego wcześniej przez państwo zadłużenia. Jednak polska gospodarka może, pod warunkiem dostosowania jakościowego struktury popytu i podaży pracy, korzystać z rezerw zasobów pracy: bezrobotnych i biernych zawodowo, a zwłaszcza z nadwyżek zatrudnienia w rolnictwie, które mogą stanowić cenny rezerwuar siły roboczej dla sektorów pozarolniczych. Złagodzi to negatywne skutki zmniejszania się liczby mieszkańców kraju, jednak w długim okresie gospodarka może napotkać barierę wzrostu w zakresie malejącego popytu wewnętrznego.
