Abstract

The aim of the study was to assess the possibility of achieving the benefits of portfolio diversification by investing in commodities classified into three groups: energy, metals and agricultural products. There are analyzed investment portfolios consisting of different assets, including direct ways of investing in commodities. On the basis of empirical data (daily prices of assets) rates of return, correlations and standard deviations were calculated for separate portfolios. The results revealed that a portfolio consisting of metal or contains this asset class brings higher income. / Synopsis.
