Abstract

Tobacco is grown in at least 124 countries around the world. In 2013 cultivated 7.4 million tons of tobacco in the area of 4.3 million hectares. China is a leader in the production of tobacco. Over the last few decades tobacco production has shifted from high-income countries to countries with medium and low incomes. There has been a high increase in production in Asia and Africa and a decline in Europe and North America. The share of the export in the global production of tobacco in 2013 amounted to the 35.5%, what is indicating to pro-export character of the production in some regions of the world. The main suppliers are the South American countries and the main importers are countries of Europe. / Synopsis.
