Abstract

The paper presents the changes of the area structure of farms in the EU-15 and in Poland in the long term. On the basis of Eurostat data trends in the number of farms in the area groups in the years 1980-2013 were shown. Transformation of the farms' area structure was characterized by a downward trend in the number of farms in general and small and medium-sized. In countries with fragmented area structure periodic upward trend appeared by a number of medium-sized farms, which in later periods changed to downward trend. The number of larger farms (100 ha and more) increased. In Poland, changes in the structure of farms run the same way as in the EU-15, but at a slower pace and can be identified as an early stage of change. / Synopsis. Opracowanie przedstawia zmiany w strukturze obszarowej gospodarstw rolnych w krajach UE-15 i w Polsce w długim okresie. Wzrosła liczba gospodarstw większych obszarowo (100 i więcej ha).
