Abstract

The study covered the period 2004-2012, using as the research units 867 average farms representing 116 regions divided into the old and the new ones, according to whether the country to which they belong was a member of the EU before or after 2004. The research was based on the data from the European FADN system, looking for an answer to the question whether after the enlargement of the EU the structure of farms has been improved by increasing the specialization level and whether this process is more intensive in farms from the new regions compared to the farms from old ones. The results show a clear decrease of labor in units from new regions, faster than in units from old ones. In addition there are signs of progressive specialization, but also a significant increase of production value in units from the old regions, in the absence of a clear trend in units from the new regions. / Synopsis.
