Abstract

The aim of the paper was to make a typology of European Union countries based on the variables characterizing and/or determining the level of use of veterinary services. The research was conducted with the use of comparative analysis, and the typological groups of European Union countries were separated by Ward’s method. On the basis of the analysis of relevant economic indicators four typological groups (types) of European Union countries were separated. It may be noted that the value of veterinary services is related to the size of the livestock, which naturally induces the necessity of the use of these services, as well as the intensity of livestock production. In addition, the degree of use of veterinary services is determined by the level of economic development of the country, and agriculture. Hence, the role of these services in agriculture in highly developed countries, where there is a greater propensity to use external services, is significant. / Synopsis. Badanie wykonano z zastosowaniem metody analizy porównawczej, a grupy typologiczne krajów Unii Europejskiej wyodrębniono metodą Warda.
