Abstract

The influence of the changes in subsidizing principles on the sheep breeding in Poland and in the EU countries is presented. The lower level of support in Poland and in the other EU countries is influencing a reduction of sheep population. Growing costs of the means of production and a lack of financial liquidity have contributed to the liquidation of many flocks of sheep. The lamb meat production has been decreasing. Its imports and exports have stagnated. Production trends have been identical in Poland and in the EU countries. Ovine production requires subsidies from the state budget or other forms of support. / Synopsis. Niższy poziom wsparcia w Polsce i innych krajach UE spowodował spadek pogłowia owiec.
