Abstract

An attempt at estimation of the present state of environmental infrastructure and its changes in the rural areas after the Polish accession to the EU structures has been made. The analysis of data presented in this paper allows to conclude that a significant acceleration in the development of water supply and sewage treatment systems took place in the Polish rural areas in the period researched. The spatial distribution of basic elements of this kind of systems in the rural areas is characterized by a significant spatial diversity and the population access to their services is still insufficient as compared to the existing needs of the sort. / Synopsis.
