Abstract

The aim of the article was to answer the question asked in its title, if the crisis was a threat to the companies noted in the WIG Food Industry index. An analysis of their economic and financial results has showed that Agriculture and Food Industry companies had taken advantage of the favourable circumstances accompanying the Polish accession to the European Union and then coped well with the difficult period of crisis. The subject of analysis was the impact of this economic situation on functioning of WIG Food Industry companies in recent years. It was found that Food Industry companies functioned well during the global financial and economic crisis. However, the WIG Food Industry index has always depended on the global economic situation and the general stock exchange climate. / Synopsis. Analiza wyników ekonomiczno-finansowych wykazała, że przedsiębiorstwa przemysłu rolno-spożywczego wykorzystały sprzyjające warunki akcesji Polski do Unii Europejskiej, a następnie dobrze poradziły sobie z trudnym okresem kryzysu.
