Abstract

The aim of the article is the description of the genesis of legal acts in respect to quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs in the EU. Presented are the most important characteristics of quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs, which are: protected designations of origin, protected geographical indications, guarantees for traditional specialties, and organic farming. The current legal regulations ensure quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs have supranational applications. The consequence of supranational protection is versatility of notions used in legal acts which are currently in force. / Synopsis. Celem pracy jest przybliżenie genezy rozwiązań prawnych w zakresie systemów jakości produktów rolnych i środków spożywczych w UE. Przedstawione zostały również najważniejsze cechy tych systemów, do których należą: chronione nazwy pochodzenia, chronione oznaczenia geograficzne, gwarantowane tradycyjne specjalności oraz produkcja ekologiczna. Obowiązujące regulacje prawne zapewniają systemy jakości produktów rolnych oraz środków spożywczych o charakterze ponadterytorialnym. Konsekwencją ponadterytorialności ochrony jest uniwersalność podstawowych pojęć użytych w obowiązujących aktach prawnych.
