Abstract

The paper presents an analysis of changes in activity of the population in older age people (50-64 years) in selected EU countries: Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Estonia in the context of demographic aging. The study period covered the years 2000 to 2012. It was low participation of people aged 50+ in most European countries and the EU average. At the same time there was an increase in the labor market involvement of people in this age group in recent years. Also presented are examples of good practices used in those countries that have successfully improved the situation on the labor market, leading to an increase in employment of people around the age of retirement.
