Abstract

Milk production and procurement in Poland and UE-15 show a clear seasonal fluctuations which are determined by the distribution of calving and feeding regimes. The seasonal fluctuations are transferred on the consequent stages of the food chain and also have got numerous microeconomic implications. A decomposition of time series makes possible differentiation of seasonal fluctuations analysis and measurement of patterns. In Poland over the period of 2001-2013 the largest seasonal variability featured exports of dairy products and milk supply (deliveries) to the dairy industry. On the other hand procurement prices were much less volatile because to a large extent they were dependent upon changes in the situation on international market as well as upon stochastic factors. Over the concerned period the seasonal fluctuations on the dairy market have diminished. / Synopsis.
