Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the organization of animal production and fodder area in selected dairy farms. The source material were the results of research carried out in 50 farms specializing in milk cattle breeding, located in two regions: Lubelskie and Podlaskie province. A analysis was prepared on the basis of selected indicators. The analysis showed that the dairy farms allocate the majority of their land (from 50 in I region and to 78% in II region) for the production of cattle feed. In the structure of the global forage area dominated main fodder area, which accounted for a significant share of special fodder area, the size of which is affected by the cultivation of cereals and maize. Farms in I region having a smaller share of grassland, stand a greater production of fodder crops cultivated on arable lands (52.5%), including maize for silage (35.0%). In the region II, where the percentage of special fodder area was smaller feed production takes place mainly on natural fodder area. The efficiency of use of fodder area expressed indicator of the relationship of forage area for 1 LU was quite high and amounted in both regions, respectively: 0,73 and 0,90 ha.
