Abstract

The territory of a farm is one of the main factors influencing its economic capability. The inclusion of Polish agriculture into the Common Agricultural Policy allows for the improvement of the territorial structure of Polish farms. This work aims to show changes in the territorial structure of farms in Podlasie province and the assessment of selected instruments of the Common Agricultural Policy which have facilitated those changes. The conducted analysis showed that within the Podlasie province there is a faster than average growth in the number of farms exceeding over 20 hectares but at the same time the decrease in the number of farms having territory between 5 to 10 hectares is very slow. The system of uniform territorial payments has had a great influence on such changes. The reduction in the number of farms transferred as a result of the structural pension program is relatively small.
