Abstract

Poland in accordance to the EU commitments should by 2020 reach the 15-percent level of the share of RES in overall energy consumption. This is a lower level than the average for the EU (20%), but to achieve it should be put a lot of effort in organizational and legal today. Polish potential in the field of biomass is high (895 PJ), also wind energy potential is large - estimated at 5-10 MW in the country, to this should be added the value of the potential of hydropower, solar energy and geothermal energy. In the paper the attention was drawn to the basic potential of renewable energy sources, ie. For biomass, particularly from agriculture.
